Senior European Regional Counsel, Regulatory Strategy & Advisory (Financial Services)

Location: London, UK; hybrid work with four days in-office each week in most locations

Base salary: GBP 103,400–148,133 per year; 20% annual bonus target

What you will do

• Advise European operations on regulatory strategy, risk, strategic initiatives, and new business line development.
• Support Compliance with regulatory responsibilities, internal investigations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Act as a contact and negotiator with European regulatory bodies.
• Advise on defending and settling regulatory actions involving regulated businesses.
• Assist with regulatory examinations, investigations, registrations, and consultation submissions across EMEA.
• Develop and implement a training framework for a high-performing regulatory legal team.

Requirements

• Law degree and qualification to practice in England and Wales or another European Union member country.
• At least eight years of financial services or securities law experience in the UK or another European jurisdiction.
• Required experience in financial services compliance and regulatory matters.
• Substantive familiarity with the FCA Handbook and UK and EU Benchmark Regulation.
• Strong leadership, influencing, judgement, analytical, communication, drafting, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize workflow, and meet deadlines.

Nice to have

• Structured finance transactional experience.
• In-house experience at a regulated entity.
• Investment adviser and asset management regulatory experience.
