Sample Control Technician I (Environmental Testing)

Location: Onsite in San Antonio, TX, USA; candidates must live within a commutable distance. Full-time schedule, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm or 8:30 am–5:30 pm, with possible overtime and non-business-hours on-call duties.

Compensation: $20–$21 per hour

What you will do

• Receive, unload, verify, and document incoming samples against Chain of Custody records, quotes, and shipping requirements.
• Log samples into the laboratory management system, assign tracking numbers, label samples, and route them to the appropriate laboratories.
• Prepare bottle kits, ship samples and empty coolers, and forward testing materials to other laboratories in compliance with EPA and DOT procedures.
• Monitor freezer and cooler temperatures, maintain sample storage areas, and dispose of spent samples, waste, and hazardous materials safely.
• Manage supplies and cooler inventory, perform sample splits and composites, and keep the department clean and organized.
• Support client service through courier duties, sample pickups and deliveries, vehicle maintenance, and professional client interaction.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle background check for company driver certification.
• Ability to drive for extended periods, up to 8 hours per day.
• Professional working proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking.
• Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
• DOT certification, TWIC card, TSA clearance, and additional client or location certifications may be required within 90 days of hire.
