Experienced Mechanical Project Engineer (Food Processing)

Location: Cholet, France; permanent full-time position based on-site. The role includes approximately 10% travel and is not open to relocation from another country.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain 2D and 3D plant layouts for powder processing projects.
• Define integrated layouts based on process, equipment, piping, structural, safety, and operational requirements.
• Coordinate layout reviews and support technical validation with internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify design improvements, technical risks, and project deviations, and propose solutions.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, hygienic design principles, and food safety requirements.
• Collaborate with process, automation, project management, sourcing, and site execution teams; support customers, installation activities, issue resolution, and junior engineer development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 8–12 years of experience in mechanical design engineering and industrial plant layout development within the food or process industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering, plant engineering, and layout integration.
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Understanding of food safety, hygienic design, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Strong English communication skills and the ability to work on-site in Cholet, France; relocation from another country is not available.
