Senior DSP/FPGA Engineer I (FPGA): Designing and implementing high-speed DSP algorithms and VHDL hardware for satellite, spacecraft, and aerospace communication systems with an accent on filters, equalizers, synchronization loops, multirate structures, and FFT processing. Focus on developing floating- and fixed-point MATLAB or Python models, partitioning hardware architectures, and validating robust FPGA implementations against realistic channel impairments.

What you will do
- Research and design fast, hardware-realisable DSP algorithms for filters, equalisers, timing and carrier recovery loops, multirate structures, and FFT processing engines.
- Develop realistic channel models incorporating phase and Gaussian noise, nonlinear RF effects, Doppler, multipath, and other impairments.
- Create floating-point and fixed-point models in MATLAB or Python to verify VHDL hardware implementations.
- Realise and test robust DSP algorithms in VHDL and define block-level hardware architectures.
- Document designs clearly and communicate critical technical information with the wider design team.
Requirements
- BSc from an accredited university or institution, with more than 4 years of postgraduate experience expected.
- Strong communications theory background and advanced knowledge of DSP and digital communication systems.
- Strong algorithmic modelling skills using MATLAB or Python.
- Excellent knowledge of VHDL and the ability to partition design problems into block-level hardware architectures.
- Competence with MS Office tools and a track record of delivering high-quality projects on time.
- Some roles may be subject to security and export-control restrictions based on nationality, place of birth, and country of residence.
Nice to have
- Higher degree in Electronics or Communications Engineering.
- Experience implementing complex real-time DSP in parallel processor architectures.
- Knowledge of DVB-S2(X), CCSDS, and other wireless communications standards.
- Understanding of digital and analogue hardware design, laboratory equipment, and design bring-up and validation.
