Water / Wastewater Engineer - Hydraulic Modeling

Location: Based out of hirify.global offices in Fulton, Maryland; Washington, DC; Vienna, Virginia; Newport News, Virginia; or Virginia Beach, Virginia. Local candidates are preferred.

Salary: $78,330–$111,900 in Newport News or Virginia Beach; $86,163–$123,090 in Fulton; $93,996–$134,280 in Washington, DC or Vienna.

What you will do

• Develop and calibrate water and wastewater hydraulic models.
• Deliver utility infrastructure master planning, preliminary engineering, and design projects.
• Perform GIS data analysis, alternatives analysis, cost analysis, and capital project development.
• Design and create plans and specifications for water and wastewater projects.
• Interact with clients through project meetings, presentations, and technical reports.
• Develop proposal scopes and level-of-effort estimates, mentor staff, and support project-level QA/QC.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position location, such as a PE or P.Eng license.
• At least five years of progressive experience in utility hydraulic modeling and infrastructure engineering design.
• Experience designing water and wastewater projects and preparing plans and specifications.
• Knowledge of wastewater collection and/or water distribution hydraulic modeling software.
• Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, mapping, and analysis, along with strong communication and independent working skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• Experience leading teams, managing projects, and assisting with project budgeting.
• Experience with public, municipal, or investor-owned utilities, public works departments, or engineering consulting firms.
• Experience working with clients in Maryland, DC, and Virginia.
