Senior Principal Platform Architect (UALink)

Location: Austin, Texas, USA; onsite with no remote work available

What you will do

• Define the structural, electrical, and logical architecture of UALink switch chassis, backplanes, cabled scale-up fabrics, and multi-tier switch hierarchies.
• Collaborate with electrical and signal/power integrity teams on ultra-high-speed SerDes routing across PCBs, flyover cables, and optical components.
• Optimize rack-level and row-level topologies for collective communication across large-scale GPU systems.
• Architect the platform management plane using BMCs, OpenBMC, Redfish, PLDM, and MCTP.
• Establish boot sequencing, multi-rail power sequencing, secure firmware updates, and hardware security lifecycle processes.
• Define platform-level RAS, fault isolation, hot-swapping, thermal management, power orchestration, and telemetry frameworks.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 20+ years of architectural experience in high-performance server platforms, hyperscale network switches, or data center infrastructure.
• Expertise in UALink, NVLink, OAM/UBB, PCIe Gen6/Gen7, CXL, or Ultra Ethernet.
• Deep knowledge of Redfish, IPMI, MCTP, SPDM, and OpenBMC.
• Understanding of OS/VMM kernels, device drivers, UEFI, ACPI, and platform initialization frameworks.
• Knowledge of OCP ORv3 rack architectures, liquid cooling, and high-density 48V/54V power delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience delivering high-volume, multi-million-gate switching or compute platforms to hyperscale cloud providers.
• Leadership or specification contributions within the UALink Consortium, Ultra Ethernet Consortium, or Open Compute Project.
• Experience with ultra-high-density accelerator platforms such as Nvidia Blackwell/Vera Rubin or AMD Instinct systems.
