Principal Mechanical Engineering Architect - Server & Rack Solutions

Location: Secaucus, New Jersey, United States; onsite

Salary: $148,125–$246,875 per year, plus potential annual bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect server- and rack-level solutions for cloud computing and hyperscale customers.
• Develop long-term server technology strategies and integrate system-level engineering strategies internally and externally.
• Work with customers and core technology suppliers to translate requirements into next-generation designs.
• Lead custom hyperscale server and rack concepts, feasibility studies, prototypes, and proof-of-concept initiatives.
• Develop server, motherboard, chassis, rack, data-center, power, BMC, UEFI, operating system, and driver architectures.
• Provide technical leadership to engineering, management, business, and customer teams while driving business value and technical differentiation.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering with 12+ years of direct industry experience, or MS with 10+ years.
• Experience taking server product architectures from design through production, including motherboard design, chassis layout optimization, and rack/data-center implementation.
• Experience with AC/DC power converters, system and rack power budgeting and debugging, and rack/data-center power infrastructure.
• Knowledge of high-speed design, signal integrity, power distribution, x86/ARM/GPU architectures, PCIe, SAS/SATA, InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, Ethernet, DDR4/DDR5, HBM, and CXL.
• Strong knowledge of BMC functionality, telemetry, security design, Root of Trust, AMI or OpenBMC firmware, UEFI/BIOS, Redfish, operating systems, and drivers.
• Demonstrated ability to define architecture specifications, develop business cases, and lead cross-functional product development from concept through delivery.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux distributions including CentOS, Ubuntu, Fedora, and SUSE.
• Experience with VMware, Citrix, or Hyper-V virtualization solutions.
• Knowledge of software driver implementation, IP schemas, and network protocols.
