AR Specialist (Healthcare Billing)

Location: Remote opportunities are available only in AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, IA, MO, NC, NE, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, and VA. Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

What you will do

• Review accounts receivable aging reports and follow up with insurance companies on outstanding therapy claims.
• Investigate denials, submit corrected claims, appeals, and reconsideration requests, and escalate trends to the Customer Billing Advocate.
• Document claim follow-up activities, open tickets, payment issues, and account concerns according to standard procedures.
• Research payor billing rules, interpret contracts, and follow up on electronically submitted primary and secondary claims.
• Post payments or submit missing payments for posting while monitoring performance metrics and assigned deadlines.
• Participate in POD and customer meetings and contribute to shared team goals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• ABA billing experience and at least one year of billing experience with major commercial insurers and state Medicaid programs.
• Experience using insurance company websites and portals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Professional writing and telephone communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail, critical thinking, internal communication, and strict HIPAA-compliant handling of client data.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Speech, occupational therapy, mental health, office, or billing-company experience.
• Experience with billing software, EMR, clearinghouse systems, or platforms such as Rethink, Azalea, Tebra, Central Reach, Waystar, Trizetto, and Availity.
• Experience with denial management platforms such as DocVocate.
