What you will do

  • Coordinate surgical cases from physician orders, including operating room dates, anesthesia, assistants, vendors, equipment, and facility documentation.
  • Arrange pre-operative appointments, clearance testing, diagnostic imaging, referrals, and follow-up care.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations and pre-certifications using accurate CPT and ICD-10 codes, while reviewing payer policies to prevent delays and denials.
  • Explain procedures, preparation requirements, appointment details, and patient financial responsibilities.
  • Maintain procedure records in the EMR, including orders, consents, clearances, authorizations, pathology reports, and operative reports.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, payors, facilities, and interdisciplinary care teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three years of experience in clinical or procedural scheduling, including insurance authorization, verification, or scheduling.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to explain patient responsibility under benefit plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work in a medical clinic or physician suite, with potential exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, radiation, and medical preparations.
