Senior Tunneling Project Manager (TBM)

Location: Empire State Building, New York, New York; full-time role supporting projects across the NYC metro region and nationally, with occasional field assignments and site-based work.

Salary: $204,645.30–$233,880.34 per year.

What you will do

• Manage tunnel and underground structure projects, including scope, schedules, budgets, project controls, and technical delivery.
• Lead or support tunnel construction management and QA/QC services, including TBM operations, slurry treatment, segmental lining, and tunnel internal structures.
• Provide technical oversight for EPB, slurry pressure balance, microtunneling, shaft construction, and mined tunnel operations.
• Review work plans, quality and safety plans, method statements, tunnel lining systems, geotechnical baseline reports, calculations, and risk assessments.
• Coordinate with owners, contractors, designers, and internal discipline leads to resolve technical and constructability challenges.
• Mentor project staff and support proposals, technical writing, pursuit strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and schedule coordination.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 15+ years of experience in tunneling and underground construction, including large-diameter TBM projects.
• Experience with major transit, rail, water, or highway tunnel infrastructure projects and construction-phase delivery.
• Strong knowledge of TBM operations, segmental tunnel lining systems, slurry treatment plants, ground conditioning, QA/QC, and construction monitoring.
• Ability to work with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; willingness to support occasional field and site-based assignments required.
