TL;DR
Turbine Aerodynamics Engineer (Gas Turbines): Developing and analyzing aerodynamic designs for gas turbines, including flow paths, airfoils, exhaust diffusers, collectors, and qualification testing, with an accent on aerodynamic methods, predictive tools, and cross-disciplinary design. Focus on building analytical software, automating CFD pre- and post-processing, and solving complex durability, manufacturing, cost, and performance challenges for new and upgraded engine programs.

Location: Bracknell, United Kingdom; onsite five days a week

What you will do

  • Design and analyze turbine flow paths, airfoils, exhaust diffusers, and collectors.
  • Plan and execute qualification testing for gas turbine aerodynamic designs.
  • Support new engine programs, core products, uprates, upgrades, and resolution of durability, manufacturing, and field issues.
  • Develop and maintain aerodynamic design methods, analytical tools, and software.
  • Collaborate with mechanical design, heat transfer, and performance teams to meet manufacturability, cost, durability, and performance requirements.
  • Participate in design-system development and multidisciplinary technical discussions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
  • Several years of relevant gas turbine aerodynamics experience.
  • Experience with 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D aerodynamic design tools and methods.
  • Proficiency in Python, C, C++, or similar programming tools.
  • Experience working with other design disciplines to develop aerodynamic technologies.
  • Ability to work onsite five days per week in Bracknell, United Kingdom; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering.
  • Advanced gas turbine aerodynamics experience.
  • Knowledge of aerodynamic technologies for cooled and uncooled turbine blades and nozzles.
  • Experience automating design processes, including CFD pre- and post-processing.
  • Experience with ANSYS CFX, STAR-CCM+, and geometry-creation tools such as Creo.
