Backend Developer (Python)

Location: Milan, Italy; hybrid working model

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python and FastAPI.
• Build scalable, high-performance RESTful APIs for internal applications.
• Work with NoSQL databases, especially MongoDB.
• Design and optimize big data processing pipelines and large-scale transformations with Apache Spark on private cloud clusters.
• Collaborate with data, frontend, and business teams.
• Contribute to software architecture while improving system performance and reliability.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with FastAPI.
• Experience with MongoDB, NoSQL databases, big data systems, and large-scale datasets.
• Proven ability to optimize data transformations using Apache Spark.
• Experience with distributed computing environments, such as private cloud clusters.
• Experience building RESTful APIs and understanding backend architectures and microservices.
• High proficiency in English, written and spoken.

Nice to have

• Experience with Neo4j or Elasticsearch.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms.
• Background in AI or machine learning, including PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience integrating large language models and familiarity with data pipelines and analytics systems.
