Lead Python Developer (EU)

Location: EU countries listed: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Fully remote, office-based, or hybrid work is available.

Salary: €3,500–€5,500 gross per month. Final compensation depends on experience, location, and professional growth.

What you will do

• Lead architectural decisions for the schema-driven application layer in collaboration with Product and Engineering teams.
• Drive the concept phase through prototyping, architectural validation, documentation, and stakeholder presentations.
• Define the boundaries between the generic declarative layer and module-specific implementations across 21 modules.
• Serve as the primary technical contact, coordinate task allocation, lead demos, and represent the team in stakeholder meetings.
• Review Backend and Full-Stack Engineer work and maintain architectural consistency across modules and application layers.
• Deliver complex full-aggregate module migrations and define contract-testing practices using golden fixtures while preserving legacy REST API compatibility.

Requirements

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience, including lead experience.
• Hands-on Lead or Tech Lead experience with task allocation, code review ownership, and direct client communication on production projects.
• Strong practical experience with Python, Django, and Django REST Framework.
• Experience with JavaScript and React, complex relational data modeling, ORM relationships, migrations, validation, and multi-tenant SaaS architectures.
• Understanding of permissions, RBAC, object-level visibility, architectural design, and backward compatibility in large production codebases.
• Upper-Intermediate English or higher is required. Strong automated testing experience with pytest, factories, contract tests, and integration tests is also required.

• Experience with schema-driven, metadata-driven, or dynamic UI generation systems.
• Modern frontend development experience with React.
• Experience as an embedded lead in a staff-augmentation engagement.
• GRC, compliance, or regulated enterprise SaaS experience.
• Knowledge of German.
