TL;DR

Cost Engineer (Manufacturing): Developing product cost estimates, cost models, and value-engineering analyses for construction toy products with an accent on BOM analysis, tooling, packaging, and manufacturing costs. Focus on identifying cost drivers, optimizing product economics, and collaborating with design, sourcing, finance, manufacturing, and suppliers to achieve target costs.

Location: Onsite at the manufacturing plant in Escobedo, Mexico, near Monterrey

Compensation: MXN 0–MXN 0 monthly

What you will do

Develop and maintain product cost estimates from concept through production.
Prepare cost analyses for design decisions, supplier negotiations, and cost-reduction initiatives.
Evaluate product, tooling, packaging, and manufacturing costs to identify optimization opportunities.
Partner with Product Development and Design to balance cost, quality, and performance.
Participate in Value Analysis and Value Engineering activities to achieve target costs.
Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing partners, Sourcing, Finance, and Product Development on cost models, reporting, and profitability decisions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in cost engineering, product development, manufacturing, sourcing, or a related function.
Strong analytical skills with experience in product costing, BOM analysis, and manufacturing processes.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Fluent English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

Knowledge of plastics, injection molding, tooling, and consumer product manufacturing.
Experience identifying cost drivers, synthesizing insights, and communicating recommendations for product and business decisions.
