Coal Technician - Bowen Basin Onsite Laboratories

Location: Onsite at Foxleigh, Queensland, Australia; primary location listed as Tieri Rd, Middlemount QLD. Flexibility to support other SGS laboratory locations is required.

What you will do

• Collect, prepare, analyse, store, and report coal samples according to approved procedures and Australian and international standards.
• Maintain accuracy, precision, and traceability across sample preparation and testing activities.
• Plan shift workflows and coordinate sample collection and analysis with incoming and outgoing shifts.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and report equipment issues or safety concerns.
• Support routine and project-based sampling, testing, housekeeping, and site maintenance.
• Promote a strong safety culture while working across varying environmental conditions.

Requirements

• Standard 11 qualification is required.
• Previous coal sampling, mineral, coal, or laboratory experience is preferred but not essential.
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, teamwork, initiative, and ability to work autonomously.
• Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.
• Successful applicants must complete a pre-employment medical and health assessment.

Nice to have

• Open Australian manual driver's licence.
• S123 and G2 tickets.
