Self Pay Collector

Location: Hybrid schedule with four days per week in the Nashville, Tennessee office; candidates must live within a 75-minute commute. The role is not available in Alaska, Maine, Washington, DC, New Jersey, California, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Colorado, Washington State, Oregon, or Minnesota.

What you will do

• Manage patient balances after insurance processing is complete and prepare accounts for self-pay collections.
• Contact patients and families by phone regarding outstanding balances and invoices.
• Arrange payments and establish payment plans.
• Process invoice and credit requests according to collections guidelines.
• Investigate escalated insurance billing inquiries and inaccuracies, taking action to resolve accounts.
• Coordinate with admissions, revenue cycle, and other internal departments while reporting collection status to leadership.

Requirements

• Knowledge of medical billing practices, office policies, and procedures.
• Understanding of the No Surprises Collections Act.
• Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality.
• Strong mathematics, written and verbal communication, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
• 2+ years of related experience in healthcare administration, finance, insurance, claims, billing, customer service, call centers, or management.
• Must be located within 75 minutes of the Nashville office and able to work onsite four days per week.
