Medical Insurance Specialist

Salary: $27.85–$36.00 per hour

What you will do

• Monitor delinquent payer and patient accounts and perform collection activities.
• Review reports, payment postings, account balances, and insurance information for accuracy.
• Research and resolve billing problems, insurance payment errors, and account inquiries.
• Contact patients regarding past-due balances, verify demographics and insurance providers, update systems, and document conversations.
• Answer payment, billing, and insurance questions, resolve complaints, and refer patients for payment-plan support when appropriate.
• Maintain patient and payer credit balances and process timely refunds in accordance with applicable regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of combined medical billing and payment experience.
• Knowledge of state, federal, and third-party claims processing.
• Knowledge of state and federal collections guidelines.
• Ability to work at the employee site during regularly scheduled business hours and interact in person with colleagues, management, and clients.
• Successful completion of required e-learning courses within 90 days of starting the position.
