TL;DR
Fluids Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and taking propulsion, pneumatic, and vehicle fluid hardware from concept through build, integration, test, and flight with an accent on valves, pressure systems, fluid routing, and hardware validation. Focus on analyzing pressure and thermal-fluid performance, qualifying components through proof, burst, leak, flow, and cycle-life testing, and solving integration and build anomalies on the factory floor.

Location: Greater Seattle Area; on-site. Candidates must meet U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements.

Salary: $130,000–$195,000 annually.

Company

hirify.global is building space infrastructure using Low Earth Orbit satellites to provide orbital power, infrared energy transmission, and secure high-bandwidth optical data.

What you will do

  • Own a fluid subsystem from concept through design, analysis, build, integration, testing, and flight.
  • Design valves, fluid routing architectures, storage hardware, pressure-control systems, and pneumatic systems for rocket engines and vehicles.
  • Optimize designs for mass, pressure drop, proof and burst performance, leakage, cycle life, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
  • Perform hand calculations, FEA, tolerance stack-ups, pressure-drop analysis, and thermal-fluid modeling, validating results with test and flight data.
  • Define and execute qualification and acceptance campaigns covering proof, burst, leak, flow, cycle life, and vibration testing.
  • Support manufacturing, engine and vehicle integration, hot-fire and fill/drain operations, anomaly investigation, and hardware refurbishment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience designing fluid-system hardware such as valves, regulators, tanks, pressure vessels, tubing, fittings, or manifolds for flight vehicles or high-performance hardware.
  • Experience taking hardware from concept through build, integration, and test.
  • Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, structural mechanics, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo, including engineering drawings using ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or a protected individual lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum, in accordance with ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

  • 10+ years of fluid-system hardware design experience and direct experience with rocket engines, launch vehicles, or spacecraft propulsion systems.
  • Experience designing or qualifying solenoid, pneumatic, hydraulic, or mechanically actuated valves and pressure regulators.
  • Experience with cryogenic fluids, propellant and pressurant compatibility, oxygen-compatible design, and relevant aerospace, pressure-vessel, or fluid-fitting standards.
  • Hands-on prototyping, machining, brazing, welding, hot-fire testing, or vehicle fill/drain operations experience.
  • Experience in a fast-moving, hardware-focused startup or early-stage program.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hands-on work with propulsion, structures, thermal, avionics, manufacturing, and test operations.
  • Equity in hirify.global.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents.
  • 401(k), paid time off, 10 paid holidays, and paid parental leave.
  • Relocation assistance when applicable, daily office lunch, and a stocked kitchen.
