TL;DR
Senior Engineer, Tooling Design (Aerospace): Designing and developing tooling, fixtures, and mechanical support equipment for turbine engine assembly, integration, and production with an accent on 3D CAD, engineering drawings, tolerance analysis, and GD&T. Focus on solving complex manufacturing challenges, improving process capability and repeatability, and supporting tooling from concept through fabrication and implementation.

Location: Onsite at the Centennial, Colorado facility, United States. U.S. citizenship is required because the role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.

Salary: $120,000–$150,700 annual base salary, with bonus eligibility and company equity.

What you will do

  • Design assembly tooling, fixtures, and mechanical support equipment for turbine engine development and production.
  • Own tooling designs from concept through detailed design, drawing release, fabrication, implementation, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with manufacturing and assembly teams to troubleshoot build issues and improve process capability, ergonomics, quality, and repeatability.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D engineering drawings, tolerance analyses, and technical documentation.
  • Lead design reviews and evaluate concepts for manufacturability, structural adequacy, functionality, cost, and ease of use.
  • Provide technical support during tooling fabrication, inspection, assembly, qualification, and production implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including tooling, fixture, or mechanical equipment design in aerospace, aviation, defense, or complex manufacturing.
  • Experience with 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, released design documentation, large mechanical assemblies, and dimensional or tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Proficiency in GD&T and ASME Y14 standards, with the ability to interpret complex drawings, specifications, interfaces, and technical requirements.
  • Ability to independently solve complex design and manufacturing challenges, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance are required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, ANSYS, or equivalent structural and stress analysis software.
  • Experience designing MGSE, assembly fixtures, lifting or handling equipment, transportation tooling, or hardware integration tooling.
  • Experience with turbine engines, propulsion systems, complex aerospace hardware, MBD, PMI, or 3D PDFs.
