PRN Certified Pharmacy Technician (Oncology)

Location: Midland, Texas; on-site work in a clinic environment, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

What you will do

• Prepare, compound, and admix chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy IV medications under the supervision of a physician or registered pharmacist.
• Check medication orders for completeness, patient information, and physician authorization.
• Calculate dosage volumes and convert between metric and apothecary equivalents.
• Maintain controlled-substance records, temperature logs, inventory records, lot numbers, and expiration dates.
• Clean and maintain hoods and admixture areas, dispose of mixing materials safely, and complete quality assurance documentation.
• Support labeling, data entry, pre-billing review, medication and supply ordering, and pharmacy department maintenance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• For the senior level, five to seven years of pharmacy experience with IV skills.
• Oncology experience or extensive IV preparation experience is preferred for the senior level.
• Work accurately under supervision while following department, OSHA, state, federal, and USP requirements.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, read and record measurements, and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.

Nice to have

• IV certification.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or state Pharmacy Board qualification.
• Completion of an ASCP-accredited or community college-based program.
