TL;DR
Project Engineer/Assistant Project Manager (Education): Supporting construction management for districtwide educational facility projects with an accent on project documentation, scheduling, change orders, and coordination with design and construction stakeholders. Focus on reviewing construction plans, managing RFIs and contractual documents, monitoring compliance, and helping deliver learning environments on time and within budget.

Location: South Flower Street, Los Angeles, California; full-time onsite role

Salary: $91,976.90–$105,116.46 per year

What you will do

  • Support construction management team members throughout the lifecycle of educational construction and modernization projects.
  • Prepare project documentation, reports, studies, correspondence, meeting minutes, and photographic materials.
  • Coordinate design reviews and responses to RFIs, submittals, change orders, field orders, and other contractual documents.
  • Assist with bid preparation, procurement, scheduling, budget tracking, document management, project closeout, and district acceptance.
  • Conduct field checks, participate in design and construction meetings, and monitor compliance with safety standards, district policies, contract requirements, and DSA regulations.
  • Coordinate communication among contractors, school district representatives, architects, project managers, superintendents, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of experience in project or construction management for commercial, public, or educational facility projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with BlueBeam, Adobe software, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, take initiative, make sound decisions, and organize daily work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Los Angeles, California.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Division of State Architect projects.
  • Knowledge of MS Project, Primavera, or Procore.
