Digital Communications Architect (Satellite Communications)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. U.S. citizenship is required, and an active security clearance is required.

Salary: $228,000–$279,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead digital communications product development from initial concept through deployment.
• Provide technical leadership for proposals, customer-facing documentation, presentations, and capture activities.
• Support customer calls and business development by aligning technical capabilities with customer needs.
• Lead feasibility studies, early-stage technical analysis, and pre-contract engineering activities, including SOW and requirements definition.
• Evaluate technologies and make-versus-buy decisions based on cost, performance, and strategic objectives.
• Lead technical transfers from R&D into full product execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience developing high-speed digital, DSP, and RF systems for terrestrial and space applications.
• Expertise in digital communications, RF architecture, FPGA design, DSP algorithms, satellite communications payloads, digital channelization, and digital beamforming.
• Deep understanding of radiation effects and mitigation in commercial ICs, plus hands-on experience with high-speed digital, SERDES, RF, and hybrid PCB design, layout, and fabrication.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams, mentoring engineers, defining technical requirements, and making system-level design decisions.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise eligible under U.S. space technology export regulations; an active security clearance is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with digital beamforming arrays and high-performance signal processing systems.
• Understanding of regulatory standards for satellite communications.
• Experience with radiation testing and radiation-sensitive space applications.
