Distinguished Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based at the Pulse Point location in Chicago, IL, with in-office work required 1–2 days per week. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of an hirify.global office unless a legal accommodation is granted.

Salary: $254,584–$381,876 annually for the Chicago, IL location.

What you will do

• Architect and deliver scalable, resilient AI systems and platforms using agentic systems, large language models, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
• Define enterprise-wide architecture patterns, integration standards, and reusable platform capabilities.
• Lead AI-driven modernization of legacy systems through automated code transformation, service decomposition, and continuous optimization.
• Design AI-enabled software development lifecycle practices to improve engineering velocity and quality.
• Establish standards, governance, monitoring, evaluation, and responsible AI practices.
• Partner with engineering teams and stakeholders, provide technical mentorship, and influence enterprise technology decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field, plus at least 15 years of software engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience leading, designing, implementing, and operating distributed systems and large-scale architectures.
• Experience developing and maintaining software with Python, Java, or comparable object-oriented programming languages.
• Experience designing and implementing APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience applying cloud, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Ability to work from within commuting distance of an hirify.global office and attend onsite 1–2 days per week.

• Advanced experience designing and leading distributed systems and large-scale architectures.
• Experience establishing enterprise technology standards and influencing technical direction across multiple teams or business domains.
