What you will do

• Prepare, compound, and admix medication orders under the supervision of a physician or registered pharmacist.
• Verify order completeness, dosage accuracy, patient information, physician authorization, and insurance approval.
• Calculate dosage volumes and convert between metric and apothecary measurements.
• Maintain drug, temperature, protocol, patient assistance, controlled-substance, and inventory records.
• Clean and maintain admixture areas and hoods, manage expiration checks, and document quality assurance activities in accordance with OSHA, USP, state, and federal requirements.
• Provide guidance and direction to entry-level admixture and pharmacy technician staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least five years of pharmacy experience with IV preparation skills.
• Experience handling IV medications; an oncology background is preferred.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certification is recommended unless required by state law.
• Ability to work with precise measurements, maintain records, and handle potential exposure to toxic substances and chemotherapeutic agents.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and occasionally lift items weighing up to 40 pounds.

Nice to have

• IV certification.
• Completion of an ASHP-accredited or community college-based pharmacy technician program.
