TL;DR
Senior Component Engineer I (Aerospace): Leading EEE component selection, qualification, screening, standardization, and performance verification for satellite, spacecraft, and aerospace communication systems with an accent on high-reliability parts engineering, supplier evaluation, and compliance. Focus on failure root-cause analysis, component obsolescence mitigation, ECO and parts-plan development, and collaboration with design, reliability, and quality engineers.

Location: Westminster, Colorado, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations under space technology export regulations.

What you will do

  • Lead high-reliability EEE component selection, standardization, qualification, screening, derating, and performance verification.
  • Define testing and qualification requirements with customers and support aerospace programs by reviewing customer documentation.
  • Develop component roadmaps, parts plans, process-definition documents, ECOs, NSPARs, and Source Control Drawings.
  • Review manufacturer and laboratory screening data for compliance with specifications, purchase orders, and program contracts.
  • Conduct component research, bill-of-materials cost analysis, obsolescence mitigation, supplier evaluations, and supplier audits.
  • Collaborate with design, reliability, and quality engineers on risk mitigation, product development reviews, and failure investigations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least four years of relevant experience as a component engineer.
  • Knowledge of component selection, qualification, screening, and derating for military and aerospace applications.
  • Familiarity with managing part requests, part objects, and part attributes in a Product Lifecycle Management system.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently under agile development timelines.
  • U.S. citizenship, qualifying U.S. immigration status, or eligibility to obtain required export authorizations is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with parts plans and qualification assessments for high-volume satellite constellations.
  • Experience conducting component failure analyses and authoring failure analysis reports.
  • Knowledge of space hardware reliability analyses, EEE component manufacturing processes, RF devices, and FPGAs.
