Associate General Counsel, Product Regulatory (AI/Cloud)

Location: Livingston, NJ; New York, NY; Sunnyvale, CA; Bellevue, WA; Washington, D.C.; or Dallas, TX. The position requires access to export-controlled information and eligibility as a U.S. person, eligibility without export authorization, or eligibility and reasonable likelihood of obtaining the required authorization.

Base salary: $177,000–$237,000 per year, plus discretionary bonus, equity awards, and benefits based on eligibility.

What you will do

• Own and mature the product regulatory governance program, including product reviews, approval frameworks, policies, decision records, training, control mappings, audit-ready evidence, and monitoring.
• Lead legal reviews of products, features, AI capabilities, data uses, and infrastructure initiatives throughout the product lifecycle; conduct international regulatory risk assessments and define controls, approvals, and launch conditions.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to embed privacy by design, responsible AI, security, data governance, transparency, and related requirements into architecture, roadmaps, and development processes.
• Advise Supply Chain and Global Operations on product regulation, technology transitions, packaging, equipment compliance, and scalable supply-chain programs.
• Align product functionality, customer commitments, contracts, disclosures, technical documentation, and marketing claims with legal requirements and approved controls.
• Monitor and operationalize U.S. and international product, privacy, AI, data, cybersecurity, consumer-protection, and digital-services laws; lead regulatory inquiries, audits, investigations, policy engagements, remediation, and outside-counsel coordination.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant legal experience, including substantial experience counseling complex technology products; a mix of law-firm and in-house experience is preferred.
• Experience serving as the senior legal advisor to Product and Engineering leaders and independently resolving novel, high-impact regulatory issues throughout the product lifecycle.
• Deep expertise in multiple areas relevant to AI and cloud products, including AI governance, privacy and data protection, cybersecurity, consumer protection, data regulation, or digital-services regulation.
• Strong technical fluency and ability to translate product functionality, system architecture, data flows, model behavior, and technical documentation into legal and engineering actions.
• Experience designing and leading product governance programs covering review and approval frameworks, policies, controls, training, audit-ready evidence, and monitoring.
• Experience conducting international product risk assessments and advising on market entry, product launches, technology transitions, and cross-border requirements.
• Exceptional judgment, executive presence, drafting, communication, and ability to influence senior technical and business leaders.
• Ability to lead through influence, build cross-functional relationships, coordinate complex initiatives, and provide subject-matter leadership without direct management authority.
• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar; NY, NJ, CA, DC, or WA preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience advising a high-growth cloud, AI, SaaS, data center, infrastructure, or other technology company.
• Experience with product compliance involving supply chains, equipment, packaging, environmental requirements, or global operations.
• Experience engaging regulators, standards bodies, industry groups, or external counsel on novel technology issues.
