Senior Counsel, Cyber Security and Incident Response (Cybersecurity)

Location: Livingston, New Jersey, United States. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S. person status or eligibility for access under applicable U.S. export regulations.

Salary: $157,000–$210,000 annual base salary, plus discretionary bonus, equity awards, and benefits based on eligibility.

What you will do

• Provide practical legal advice across the cybersecurity incident lifecycle, from triage and investigation through remediation, recovery, and post-incident review.
• Partner with Security, Privacy, IT, Engineering, Product, Communications, Customer Support, Insurance, and business leaders on incident response.
• Lead or support privileged investigations, including evidence preservation, forensic work, root-cause analysis, outside counsel, and law-enforcement interactions.
• Assess legal and contractual notification, disclosure, materiality, and escalation obligations.
• Draft and review executive and Board updates, customer and regulatory notices, law-enforcement communications, and other incident-related materials.
• Develop incident response plans, legal playbooks, notification matrices, escalation criteria, decision records, training, and tabletop exercises.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant legal experience involving cybersecurity incidents, data breaches, digital investigations, or cybersecurity regulation.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state breach-notification requirements, cybersecurity regulatory frameworks, and contractual incident-notification obligations.
• Experience independently managing complex cybersecurity matters, privileged investigations, incident materiality, escalation, notification, and disclosure decisions.
• Ability to understand technical facts, including system architecture, logs, forensic findings, and security concepts, and translate them into legal guidance.
• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar; NY, NJ, CA, DC, or WA preferred.
• Strong drafting, communication, judgment, discretion, and composure in fast-moving situations, including significant incidents outside standard business hours when necessary.

Nice to have

• Experience in a high-growth cloud, SaaS, data center, infrastructure, or technology company.
• Experience with public-company cybersecurity materiality, governance, and disclosure processes.
• Experience with ransomware, insider threats, supply-chain incidents, credential compromise, and cloud security events.
• CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, CISSP, or comparable privacy and cybersecurity credentials.
