Machinist

Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada; onsite. Candidates must be authorized to work in Canada and able to work shifts.

What you will do

• Prepare standard samples and coupons for basic mechanical and metallurgical tests.
• Set up and operate lathes, mills, surface grinders, saws, and other machining equipment.
• Read drawings, specifications, charts, and sample parts to determine machining operations.
• Measure and mark materials, calculate dimensions and tolerances, and verify component accuracy.
• Maintain sample traceability, organize coupons, and package products for delivery.
• Carry out product pickups and deliveries while following safe work instructions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current enrollment in, or completion of, periods 1–4 of a machinist apprenticeship program, or a Machining Technology Diploma.
• Strong math and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to perform precise work and use hand and power tools.
• Ability to estimate and measure dimensions accurately and safely handle items weighing up to 25 kilograms.
• Basic computer knowledge and proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, follow work instructions, and work shifts.

Nice to have

• 1–3 years of experience in a machinist-related profession.
