Civil Engineer / Associate Engineer (Rail Infrastructure)

Location: Sacramento, California, United States; long-term, full-time, on-site position

Salary: $75,000–$110,000 per year ($36–$52 per hour)

Engineering and infrastructure delivery organization supporting a large-scale rail construction program.

What you will do

• Prepare, revise, and maintain engineering drawings, sketches, exhibits, track charts, and construction support documents using CAD platforms.
• Review plans, specifications, drawings, and technical documentation for completeness and accuracy under senior engineering guidance.
• Incorporate redline revisions and maintain organized drawing files according to project standards.
• Support field engineering by preparing construction sketches, record drawings, and as-built documentation.
• Develop engineering calculations, quantity takeoffs, technical reports, project exhibits, and presentations.
• Coordinate with designers, surveyors, construction managers, contractors, and other project participants during reviews and meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, engineering technology, construction management, transportation engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 1 year of engineering, drafting, design, or construction support experience.
• Working knowledge of engineering drawings, track charts, standard drawings, drafting principles, and construction documentation.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or comparable CAD software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
• Strong organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with careful attention to technical accuracy.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant engineering, construction management, or transportation discipline.
• Engineer-in-Training certification or progress toward obtaining it.
• Experience with passenger rail, transit, transportation infrastructure, or transportation megaprograms exceeding $1 billion.
• Familiarity with Caltrans standards, OpenRoads, Bluebeam Revu, ProjectWise, or other document management systems.
• Internship or academic project experience in engineering design, CAD drafting, or construction support.
