TL;DR
Water Resources Engineering Specialist (Civil Engineering/Stormwater): Designing drainage, stormwater management, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling solutions for transportation and municipal projects with an accent on DOT standards, permitting, and construction-level plan development. Focus on preparing technical reports, performing culvert and bridge studies, coordinating multidisciplinary designs, and applying specialized tools including OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, StormCAD, and PCSWMM.

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina, United States; hybrid arrangement with up to 2 work-from-home days per week and approximately 15% travel to client project sites in the East South Central and South Atlantic regions. Applicants must be authorized to accept permanent employment in the U.S. with any employer.

What you will do

  • Plan, design, and implement drainage improvement and stormwater management projects for DOT, municipal, and transportation clients.
  • Develop drainage designs, stormwater plans, technical details, and construction-level plan sets using MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic studies for culverts and bridges.
  • Prepare Storm Water Management Reports and other technical documentation.
  • Support scopes of work, cost estimates, QA/QC, permitting, and compliance with applicable drainage standards.
  • Coordinate designs with roadway, structures, utilities, and maintenance-of-traffic disciplines under project manager and licensed engineer supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, including coursework in hydrology and water resources.
  • At least two years of experience in the position offered.
  • Experience with drainage design, stormwater management, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, StormCAD, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, PCSWMM, FHWA HY-8, and Hydraulic Toolbox.
  • Permanent U.S. work authorization is required.
