Assembly Technician - Coil Winding (Optical Assembly)

What you will do

• Operate fibre-optic coil-winding equipment and handle optical materials.
• Wind fibre-optic coils for high-grade navigation devices.
• Assemble, calibrate, test, clean, and inspect electronic and optical assemblies.
• Prepare and splice polarisation-maintaining optical fibre, using adhesives to bond and seal products.
• Work with Engineering R&D to develop and document optical assembly processes and procedures.
• Manage optical and electrical component inventory, perform basic equipment maintenance, and pack semi-finished goods for inspection and transport.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in optical assembly.
• Experience assembling high-value products in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and work instructions.
• Visual and mechanical dexterity for handling, cleaning, inspecting, and splicing small optical components.
• Experience with polarisation-maintaining fibre, high-accuracy fusion splicers, laser safety standards, and WHS practices.
• Electronic or optical qualification, strong attention to detail, computer skills, communication skills, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
