Buyer (Manufacturing)

Location: Carpentersville, Illinois, United States; full-time onsite role

Salary: $60,000–$70,000 annual base salary, based on qualifications and experience.

What you will do

• Obtain quotations and prepare and place purchase orders for assigned commodities, materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Manage the supplier base, identify economical sources of supply, and locate new suppliers as needed.
• Participate in or conduct supplier audits and provide constructive feedback.
• Expedite deliveries to meet production schedules and maintain or improve purchase costs.
• Support Engineering with new product and supplier development.
• Maintain supplier data, control inventory levels, recommend purchasing procedures, and participate in Material Review Board activities, including Discrepant Material Reports and part analysis.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, or a related degree in Supply Chain Management without prior experience.
• Background in project management and general knowledge of ISO 9000.
• Strong oral and written communication, problem-solving, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Ability to learn technical information quickly and apply it to new engineering concepts.
• Working knowledge of personal computers, self-motivation, and attention to detail.
• Availability for nonstandard or extended work schedules.
