TL;DR
Equipment Technology Project/Product Engineer - PA Hybrid (Industrial Gas Equipment): Designing, quoting, executing, and supporting application equipment for oxygen-fuel combustion, hydrogen power generation, heat treating, metals processing, and decarbonization applications with an accent on mechanical design, piping, instrumentation, controls, and fabrication documentation. Focus on developing equipment packages, managing bills of materials and vendors, supporting commissioning and start-up, and solving complex customer and installed-equipment problems.

Location: Hybrid role ideally located in Allentown, Pennsylvania, United States; requires 20–25% domestic travel annually

What you will do

  • Quote and execute application equipment projects typically valued at $50,000–$500,000, with some projects exceeding $1,000,000.
  • Design and develop new equipment offerings and standard design packages for existing products.
  • Prepare scopes of work, fabrication cost estimates, bills of materials, equipment layouts, foundation drawings, and flow schematics.
  • Provide engineering support to commercial, sales, internal, and external customer stakeholders to resolve equipment and operational issues.
  • Support project closeout, as-built documentation, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Manage product bills of materials and vendor relationships while following safety, engineering, project management, and operations processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or 10+ years of consecutive relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.
  • Mechanical design expertise and knowledge of piping, instrumentation, and controls.
  • Strong organizational, planning, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically 20–25% annually.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Nice to have

  • Electrical aptitude and familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software.
