Senior Electrical Engineer IV - Communications

Location: Carpentersville, Illinois, United States; onsite

Salary: $110,000–$125,000 annual base salary, based on qualifications and experience.

What you will do

• Lead electrical product development from concept and architecture through prototyping, bring-up, HW/SW integration, validation, production, and customer support.
• Create technical specifications, schematics, bills of materials, engineering change notices, test plans, and other product documentation.
• Design digital interfaces, microprocessor peripherals, sensors, memory, audio circuits, analog circuitry, power supplies, battery monitoring, and charging systems.
• Use Altium CAD and guide PCB layout for high-speed interfaces, impedance matching, power routing, and EMC compliance.
• Lead electrical debugging, troubleshooting, simulation, performance and reliability testing, EMC testing, and field failure analysis.
• Collaborate with Sales, Quality, Mechanical, Firmware, and Manufacturing Engineering teams, and participate in design reviews and DFMEAs.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and at least 10 years of concept-through-production product development experience.
• Strong experience designing and bringing up digital, analog, and audio electronic circuits, including initial hardware/software integration.
• Experience with SDIO, I2C, SPI, RS232, parallel and serial/UART, JTAG, Bluetooth, USB, and other connectivity protocols.
• Experience selecting and designing interfaces for GPS, accelerometers, IMUs, speakers, and microphones, plus knowledge of batteries and charging circuits.
• Ability to work independently or lead projects, troubleshoot product failures, prioritize multiple projects, and collaborate effectively.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of embedded software.
• Experience with Altium or another schematic/layout CAD tool.
