Directors, Software Engineering

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; some telecommuting permitted.

Salary: $173,326–$253,300 per year, plus benefits.

What you will do

• Provide strategic and technical leadership for multiple cross-functional, geographically distributed engineering teams.
• Lead the development, modernization, and operation of enterprise-scale platforms across public and private cloud environments.
• Drive migration from complex on-premises legacy systems to secure, cloud-native, microservices-based architectures.
• Oversee the design and governance of scalable, reliable, resilient, low-latency, and high-throughput APIs and services.
• Establish engineering practices covering DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, security, reusable platform components, and continuous lifecycle improvement.
• Manage, mentor, and develop senior engineering leaders and architects across onshore, offshore, and vendor models.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer applications, computer information systems, computer engineering, engineering, or a related field.
• At least two years of experience as a lead engineer, developer, or in software architecture and design.
• Experience building low-latency, high-throughput, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems and running containerized production systems in public clouds.
• Software design experience with APIs, Unix/Linux, Informix, PostgreSQL, Python, Java, C, C++, SOAP, JSON, Google Protocol Buffers, shell scripting, Git, Mercurial, Artifactory, Maven, and UML.
• Experience with credit software applications, Kafka streaming platforms, Lean DevOps, match algorithm design, algorithms, and data structures.
• Proven ability to build high-performing teams focused on continuous delivery and innovation.
