Principal Engineer (Space Systems)

Location: Onsite in Long Beach, California, United States. The role is based at hirify.global’s global headquarters and requires U.S. citizenship due to program requirements.

Base salary: $173,000–$260,000 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $223,000–$339,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Oversee and review spacecraft system engineering across satellite programs.
• Derive requirements and develop system and subsystem verification techniques.
• Review vehicle performance budgets, test methods, and test data analysis.
• Perform simulation and analysis of spacecraft systems.
• Provide technical leadership for future mission architectures, platforms, and payloads.
• Support system and subsystem architecture development, program management, and product management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another technical discipline.
• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• U.S. citizenship required due to program requirements and U.S. space technology export regulations.
• 12+ years of experience supporting satellite or spacecraft programs.
• Strong understanding of spacecraft subsystems, space environments, orbital mechanics, and rigid body dynamics.
• Experience with satellite operations.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in engineering or another technical discipline.
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, and STK.
• Experience testing electrical subsystems and assemblies, thermal vacuum or random vibration, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
