Director, Legal Operations

Location: Hybrid role based in Camden, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $170,200–$234,100 annual base salary

What you will do

• Lead the Legal Department roadmap, planning, prioritization, governance, communications, knowledge management, change management, and strategic initiatives.
• Manage legal technology and collaboration tools, including e-billing, document management, reporting tools, contract resources, and AI-enabled solutions.
• Oversee annual budgeting, forecasting, legal spend reporting, accruals, reserves, dashboards, and operational metrics in partnership with Finance.
• Manage outside counsel, alternative legal service providers, and legal vendors, including rate negotiations, RFPs, statements of work, onboarding, and performance tracking.
• Improve and automate legal processes by creating playbooks, templates, workflows, controls, and user guidance.
• Analyze operational data and prepare executive-ready materials for the Executive Vice President and General Counsel.

Requirements

• BA/BS from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• At least ten years of relevant experience in legal operations, corporate legal department management, or a related field.
• Experience managing budgets, reporting, legal technology, outside counsel, legal vendors, and alternative legal service providers.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, project management, and change management skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects, influence without direct authority, and work with limited supervision.
• Technical literacy with expertise in foundational legal technology and AI; a law degree or bar admission is not required.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting an in-house legal department.
• Experience with a publicly traded company, consumer-packaged goods company, manufacturer, or retailer.
