TL;DR
Mercury Racing Systems Engineering Co-Op (marine propulsion systems): Testing and validating mechanical and electrical engine components and supporting racing prototype and production builds with an accent on system-level testing, instrumentation, and post-test data analysis. Focus on building components hands-on, collecting test data, and drawing engineering conclusions for marine propulsion systems.

Location: Onsite at Plant 36 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, United States. Relocation is available. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Salary: $18.00–$27.50 per hour.

What you will do

  • Support system-level testing and validation of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Assist with hands-on prototype and production component builds.
  • Set up and use test instrumentation, lab instruments, and measurement devices.
  • Analyze post-test data and establish engineering conclusions.
  • Work alongside the Mercury Racing product development and engineering teams on racing prototypes and production components.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Electrical Engineering or a similar field.
  • At least second-semester sophomore status with 48 completed credits.
  • Available to work full-time, 40 or more hours per week, from January through August 2027.
  • Working knowledge of powertrain or drivetrain components.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, lab instruments, calipers, gauges, and other measurement devices.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving ability, data collection skills, and ability to work under general supervision.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of engines and transmissions.
  • Programming experience with Python, C, or C++, and knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Knowledge of CAD software.
  • Coursework in statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, or mechatronics.
