Process & Mechanical Designer

Location: On-site in Rochester and/or Rush, New York, with occasional travel typically under 25%

Salary: $22.69–$34.05 per hour, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Design industrial process and mechanical systems, especially skid-based and modular equipment, from concept through detailed design and release.
• Develop and review requirements documents, general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, piping layouts, and technical details.
• Perform simulation, analysis, and validation of components and integrated systems.
• Participate in internal and client-facing design reviews and support proposals and estimating.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, electrical, controls, fabrication, and field service teams to ensure manufacturable designs and smooth handoffs.
• Improve design processes, tools, and standards while maintaining safety and quality.

Requirements

• 5+ years of process and/or mechanical design experience in an industrial or engineering-services environment.
• Strong AutoCAD 2D/3D and SolidWorks design skills.
• Experience with design analysis, simulation, and gathering and documenting technical requirements.
• AS or BS degree, or equivalent experience, in Drafting/Build, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Strong communication, organization, and self-management skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to work on-site in Rochester and/or Rush, New York, travel up to 25%, and maintain a proactive commitment to safety.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial equipment and automation, cost and engineering estimates, ISO 9001, or Lean/Six Sigma.
• Knowledge of pressure vessel and piping design, pipe stress and frame analysis, 3D point clouds, OSHA, or process safety.
• Experience with Caesar II, SolidWorks FEA, or ANSYS.
