Finish Repair Technician / PI (Small Parts)

Location: Vonore, Tennessee, United States; onsite, full-time

Salary: $21.85–$24.55 per hour for Tech I or $24.15–$27.05 per hour for Tech II.

What you will do

• Build and repair fiberglass boat hulls, decks, and small parts.
• Use hand tools and specialty equipment, including gel-coat spray equipment, grinders, buffers, and drills.
• Inspect parts, identify finish defects, and protect boat components during finishing work.
• Handle and apply solvents, paints, pastes, putty, and wax, including proper disposal.
• Follow job instructions and communicate part-completion status verbally and in writing.
• For Tech II, demonstrate gel-coat and catalyst mixing and repair defects within specified timeframes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Working knowledge of hand tools and the ability to read prints and production schedules.
• Ability to work with suspended loads and perform lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Effective written and verbal communication and the ability to adapt to changing requirements.
• Strong attention to detail when identifying defects and inconsistencies.
• For Tech II, successful completion of an internal skills test covering gel-coat mixing and small-part repair methodologies.

Nice to have

• Two to three years of boat-building experience.
• Quality control or inspection experience in manufacturing or marine environments.
• Experience with calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines, and inspection documentation.
• Ability to resolve quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
