Data Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: United States · Remote

Compensation: $190,000–$330,000 annually for comparable US management-level data engineering roles.

What you will do

• Lead and grow a data engineering team, set technical direction, conduct code reviews, and build a culture of reliability and continuous improvement.
• Own the design and delivery of data pipelines and infrastructure supporting analytics, AI/ML, and core business operations.
• Partner with data science, analytics, and product teams to translate business requirements into scalable data architecture.
• Drive best practices for data quality, testing, documentation, monitoring, and deployment automation.
• Manage the technical roadmap and prioritization across feature delivery, platform maintenance, and technical debt.
• Evaluate new tools and technologies while communicating trade-offs and progress to cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• 5+ years of data engineering experience, including 2+ years in a team lead or management role.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, and Redshift.
• Experience with workflow orchestration and modern data tools, including Airflow, dbt, or Dagster.
• Ability to hire, mentor, and develop engineering talent and provide and receive feedback.
• Track record of delivering robust, maintainable data systems at scale, with knowledge of data quality, monitoring, and incident response.
• Strong communication skills and experience working in fast-moving environments with changing priorities.
