Data Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based at hirify.global's New York City headquarters, New York, United States

Base salary: $173,500–$213,100 USD per year, plus equity awards, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, and region-specific benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the DataOps function, improving operational maturity, platform reliability, and engineering processes.
• Manage and mentor offshore engineering resources, providing technical guidance, feedback, and delivery oversight.
• Partner with business stakeholders, engineering teams, analytics partners, and platform owners to prioritize and deliver data solutions.
• Own intake, prioritization, execution, and operational support processes for DataOps requests.
• Govern key data platforms including Airflow, Airbyte, and Looker, covering access reviews, compliance reviews, audits, and operational controls.
• Coordinate monitoring, alerting, incident management, root cause analysis, and operational readiness across the data platform.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, software engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience leading technical teams, managing engineering projects, or coordinating offshore or vendor resources.
• Strong knowledge of modern data engineering architectures, ETL/ELT patterns, and data platform operations.
• Hands-on experience with Airflow, Airbyte, dbt, or similar orchestration and integration technologies.
• Experience designing monitoring, alerting, incident response, and operational support processes.
• Strong SQL and data analysis skills, ideally with BigQuery, plus a bachelor's degree in a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting compliance auditing for Looker, BigQuery, or other cloud analytics platforms.
• Experience building DataOps or platform operations functions and implementing data quality, observability, lineage, or governance solutions.
• Experience supporting AI, machine learning, or self-service analytics initiatives.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum environments and cross-functional technical programs.
