Senior Manager of Data Engineer (Data Engineering)

Location: Remote, US; fully virtual with periodic in-person retreats.

Salary: $162,000–$180,000 annually

What you will do

• Manage, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary team of data engineers and data scientists.
• Oversee scalable data pipelines, data architecture, data models, and data science models.
• Define and evolve the Snowflake data warehousing strategy for analytics, data science, and product use cases.
• Partner with Analytics and Product teams to support Looker insights and assess the downstream impact of product changes.
• Establish data quality standards, governance, security, compliance, and observability practices.
• Set the data engineering and data science roadmap while contributing hands-on to high-impact codebases and technical challenges.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, or data architecture, including 2+ years in leadership or management.
• Experience with data integration tools, ETL/ELT frameworks, cloud data platforms, data pipeline architecture, dimensional modeling, SQL, and Python.
• 3+ years of experience with data visualization or BI tools such as Looker.
• Experience collaborating with Data Science teams and understanding machine learning models and statistical analysis.
• Knowledge of data quality management, automated testing, observability, data governance, zero-trust security, and compliance standards; healthcare data and HIPAA/PHI experience is strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• Healthcare or insurance industry experience.
• Experience with AWS, Snowflake, Matillion, or dbt.
• Familiarity with modern AI workflows and coding assistants.
