Application Engineer (Industrial Heating)

Location: Hybrid, based in Aachen or Overath, Germany; willingness to travel up to 30% is required.

What you will do

• Act as the technical subject matter expert for industrial heat pump applications and related services, including factory acceptance testing and field commissioning.
• Support Sales with customer enquiries, meetings, and technical discussions.
• Develop application concepts, technical proposals, solution designs, and preliminary system designs for customer projects.
• Analyze customer requirements and recommend effective industrial heating solutions.
• Collaborate with R&D, New Product Development, suppliers, solution architects, and other cross-functional stakeholders to optimize customer solutions.
• Monitor industrial heat pump market developments, provide market insights, and represent hirify.global at industry events, conferences, workshops, and customer meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience preferred; approximately 2 years of highly relevant experience may be considered with strong technical capability, customer-facing experience, and the right attitude.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, refrigeration systems, and heat pump technologies.
• Experience working with customer applications and providing technical recommendations.
• Ability to combine technical expertise with commercial awareness.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, project coordination, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in an international, cross-functional team environment.
• Fluent English language skills are required.
• Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Nice to have

• Degree specialization in Mechanical Engineering, Thermodynamics, Refrigeration, or a related discipline.
• Experience with industrial refrigeration and industrial heat pump applications.
• Technical sales or customer-facing engineering experience.
• Additional European language skills.
• Experience supporting industrial heating, energy efficiency, or thermal management projects.
