Lab Engineer (Renewable Energy)

Location: Berlin, Germany; work at the Berlin lab. Offices are also available in Hamburg and Munich.

What you will do

• Plan and execute development-related hardware tests for an integrated energy control platform.
• Explore OEM and feature integrations with cross-functional teams and coordinate system integration testing.
• Design, construct, assemble, and configure test benches simulating single-home environments with PV systems, batteries, heat pumps, and EV chargers.
• Plan and execute release testing, define test KPIs, and document and evaluate results.
• Develop and improve lab testing software, test automation, methodologies, and procedures.
• Provide 3rd-level support, guide lower-level support teams, and mentor junior lab engineers.

Requirements

• Completed studies in electrical engineering or mechatronics and 4+ years of experience in assembly, testing, or maintenance of electrical systems, preferably in renewable energy.
• Elektrofachkraft (EFK) qualification.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Hands-on experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power analyzers.
• Experience collaborating with development and support teams and stakeholders to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Valid Class B driver’s license.
• Strong documentation skills, including recording and communicating test procedures, results, and best practices.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and German.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with state-of-the-art AI development using tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and other development tools.
