Patient Benefits Representative

Location: Chicago, Illinois — onsite at 7447 W Talcott Ave

Salary: $22–$26 per hour

What you will do

• Verify active insurance coverage, benefits, eligibility, and pre-authorization requirements before patient services.
• Coordinate referrals and primary care authorizations, tracking approvals and required codes before treatment.
• Meet with patients to explain coverage, co-pays, deductibles, balances, payment arrangements, and estimated costs.
• Identify financially constrained or underinsured patients and help secure charitable grants, disease-specific foundation support, and manufacturer copay assistance.
• Maintain accurate patient demographics, insurance records, co-pay information, forms, logs, and documentation in computer systems.
• Forward reimbursement and liability documentation to the billing office and coordinate with front-desk staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least three years of experience as a patient pre-services coordinator or in an equivalent role.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of CPT and HCPCS coding applications.
• Clear verbal communication using accurate professional terminology.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, state, and federal requirements.
