Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Medical Manufacturing)

Location: Tijuana, Mexico; onsite, full-time

What you will do

• Lead harness assembly, bag making, bowl assembly, and related manufacturing processes from concept through production.
• Manage engineering improvement projects involving bonding, plastic welding, sealing, cutting, printing, coiling, and leak testing.
• Implement cost-reduction and continuous-improvement projects, including cycle-time reduction, automation, defect reduction, 5S, Kaizen, and Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.
• Maintain equipment, tooling, jigs, fixtures, preventive maintenance, calibration, and computerized maintenance management system activities.
• Support new products, process transfers, existing production, and hands-on troubleshooting of manufacturing and testing equipment.
• Prepare maintenance budgets, engineering documentation, business cases, quotations, user requirements, and validation protocols and reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Plastics, Molding, or a related engineering discipline.
• More than five years of relevant engineering and project management experience.
• Required experience with ultrasonic welding and work in an FDA-regulated industry.
• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing process control and process validation requirements, including statistical tools.
• Advanced computer literacy with Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and CAD software.
• Supervisory experience, including assigning work, developing employees, and resolving performance or workplace issues.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Knowledge of extrusion processes and mechanical, plastics, or materials engineering.
• Experience with SolidWorks or Pro/E and computer-based drawing and design programs.
• Experience in medium- or high-volume medical, pharmaceutical, automotive, or food manufacturing.
• Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing training, including Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
