Telecommunications Specialist

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States; in-office. The role includes OCONUS temporary duty assignments of up to 50%, including hazardous areas as required, and CONUS temporary duty assignments of up to 10%.

Pay range: $49,996.80–$290,004.00.

What you will do

• Provide satellite voice and data, landline, telephone, secure and non-secure voice troubleshooting and technical support.
• Operate, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot routers, switches, servers, leased lines, cryptographic systems, UHF radios and tactical radio platforms.
• Support a 24/7 Crisis Communications Operations Center through incident and event management, crisis communications and situational awareness activities.
• Maintain high-speed data links and globally deployed communications systems while developing network and system monitoring tools.
• Plan, design, install, program, test and field-train personnel on tactical radio systems and associated equipment.
• Support communications projects, procurement, site surveys, field installations, upgrades and Tier 1/Tier 2 troubleshooting, including VIP communications support.

Requirements

• US citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph are required.
• At least 6 years of relevant experience in telecommunications, communications systems or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering or IT-related field; equivalent relevant experience may substitute.
• Experience with switches, routers, servers, STE, IDNX, leased lines, cryptographic systems and UHF radio equipment.
• Experience programming and installing ICOM, Motorola and Harris tactical radio systems.
• Knowledge of 24/7 crisis communications facilities, installation procedures, Customer systems including BASIS and GENESIS, procurement processes and technical communication with technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Systems Operations Center or Network Operations Center experience.
• Experience with Splunk, Riverbed, StealthWatch, Network Node Manager or HP OpenView.
• Data science tools and methods, incident and event management, RF concepts and signal propagation.
• DoD field-environment deployments, rotational schedules and executive-level or VIP communications support.
