What you will do

  • Prepare medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
  • Check order completeness, verify patient information and physician authorization, and prepare accurate labels.
  • Calculate dosage volumes and convert between metric and apothecary measurements.
  • Safely dispose of materials used for chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy IV mixing while following OSHA and department guidelines.
  • Maintain temperature logs, medication records, lot-number documentation, inventory records, and controlled-drug counts.
  • Support billing, filing, data entry, hood cleaning, expiration checks, and other quality-assurance activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Entry-level experience to three years of experience in a pharmacy.
  • Ability to work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist in a licensed pharmacy.
  • Ability to read and record measurements, perform manual and finger dexterity tasks, and maintain eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Corrected vision and hearing within the normal range; ability to work around patients, medicinal preparations, toxic substances, and chemotherapeutic agents.
