Construction Engineer I (Temp-to-Hire) (Solar)

Location: Remote within California, United States, with required travel and project site visits. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Compensation: $29.78–$37.23 per hour.

What you will do

• Gather field data, photos, as-built information, and installation details for warranty claim evaluations.
• Support GPS-enabled pile driving, drone-based surveying, machine-control datasets, and construction technology SOPs.
• Coordinate drawing updates, design clarifications, RFIs, consultant responses, and engineering document control.
• Assist with pre-construction pile load testing, including scheduling, field logistics, procedures, and test-result documentation.
• Compare drawings and quantities, participate in constructability reviews and site visits, and identify engineering risks.
• Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, field engineers, consultants, and internal engineering teams to resolve issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, environmental studies, or a closely related technical field is preferred.
• 0–3 years of relevant experience, with the ability to work under guidance and develop toward independent execution.
• Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, electrical, and geotechnical engineering drawings.
• Foundational knowledge of construction processes, testing practices such as pile load testing, and engineering documentation.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word; ability to perform field work and travel is required.

Nice to have

• Engineer-in-Training certification or willingness to pursue it.
• Exposure to CAD, GIS, drone-capture platforms, GPS machine-control datasets, or similar tools.
